And I went from page 4 to page 11. I knew
I shouldn't have stolen Livestock's lunch. I do enjoy the
acknowledgement of my lame joke's obscurity though. It seems
as though the regulars have been out of it for a while, and
the people who are steppping up aren't performing as well yet.
Give the current run a bit of time and I'm sure things will
pick up.
As for dogging someone for posting to get some
feedback, I think that's a good thing. I don't like when I see
an image go up, then no one says anything about it and
resultantly it doesn't get used. Admittedly many jokes are
easier to convey, and some are lost in the execution or lack
of source, but I also think if someone's shit sucks you should
let them know.
There's been an influx of "first
photoshop; go easy." lately (last week's in particular. I
bought a guy an account and he was all geeked to use "Ninja
Garden" for videogames, made THIS kickass image and then it didn't get
used. If I might say so, the whole of last week's submissions
sucked. I think Livestock made a few late night calls to some
of the regulars, had them whip up something to save the lot,
and used those instead. Either that, or the regulars just
mailed theirs in. (I didn't see many of them posted, anyway) I
think you shouldn't be able to get into a phriday unless you
post in the thread. That way, if you're good, your shit will
be shown. People know what's being done, can get hints on what
is good or not, and will avoid posting shit if there's gold
right next to it. Without quality submissions to compare to
otehrs onscreen at once, there's no one to tell people "hey.
Your shit sucks. Clean that shit up." letting in submissions
without posting in the thread only makes things worse, because
it's a big white toilet people can just shit into and see what
sticks to the porcelain when Livestock hits flush at the end
of the week.
In the future, I'm going to try to be
critical and offer help to people who want it (I'm no pro, but
I have done GD for a living (jobless now, sigh) and have used
PS since the wayback when things were powered by steam, so I
know a bit about a bit) and hopefully help out enough to raise
the bar a bit from where it's dropped recently.
As for
the "real funny" being $10 beyond people's grasp, I don't know
about that, I've seen less and less PS threads thanks to
idiotic trolls lately, and sadly most of the funny is still
located in Phridays. I used to think of phridays as this
ultimate thing, like "wow, I wanna get my shit up by
Dorquemada & geno1173's" now it's dwindled a
bit.
Just my two, I guess.
